How to connect Smplrspace floor plans to Infodeck
Use Smplrspace to make existing spaces available to Infodeck floor-plan widgets. You configure viewer access and a list of spaces, then choose a space in a dashboard widget.
Quick summary: Create the connector, enter its Organization ID and Client token, add the Space ID for each floor plan, save the settings and check the actual widget.
Before you begin
You need:
- Permission to view, create and update integrations in Infodeck.
- Permission to edit the dashboard where you will use the floor plan.
- A Smplrspace organization with an existing space ready to view.
- Its Organization ID, a Client token with access to the intended spaces, and each Space ID.
Use a client token intended for browser viewing. Smplrspace documents token management and space restrictions in its embedding guide. Its space API reference explains where to find the organization ID in Developers.
Copy identifiers exactly from Smplrspace. Do not change their format to match an example or placeholder in Infodeck.
Adding a space makes it available for floor-plan widgets. It does not create a floor plan in Smplrspace, import every space automatically or establish an occupancy sensor feed. Sensor measurements and any widget data layers need their own configuration.
1. Create the connector
- Open Settings → Integrations.
- Click Add connector, select Automation, then choose Smplrspace.
- Enter a Connector name, such as
Office floor plans. - Add a Description if helpful.
- Click Create and continue.
The connector opens with Smplrspace settings and Configured spaces. The saved connector record alone is not enough to display a floor plan.
2. Enter viewer access
- Under Smplrspace settings, enter the Organization ID from Smplrspace.
- Enter the Client token intended for these spaces.
- Confirm the Connector name and optional Description.
- Click Test connection.
The test uses the values currently entered in the form. It checks whether Smplrspace accepts an API connection and waits up to 10 seconds for a response.
Test connection does not save settings, confirm any configured Space ID, render a floor plan or verify occupancy readings. A successful test must still be followed by saving and opening the intended space in a widget.
Settings field reference
| Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Connector name | Yes | Recognizable name, up to 256 characters. |
| Organization ID | Yes | The Smplrspace organization identifier. |
| Client token | Yes | Viewer client token with access to the intended spaces. |
| Description | No | Optional context, up to 1,000 characters. |
3. Add a space
- Under Configured spaces, click Add space.
- Enter the Space ID copied from Smplrspace.
- Enter a Space name, such as
Office level 2, so administrators can recognize it. - Click Save space.
- Repeat for other spaces you need.
- Click Save settings in the connector's Smplrspace settings section.
Save space adds the entry to your current changes. Save settings persists those changes to the connector. Do not leave the page after adding spaces without saving the settings.
Space field reference
| Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Space ID | Yes | Existing Smplrspace space identifier; each ID can appear only once in this connector. |
| Space name | No | Friendly display name, up to 100 characters. |
A configured-space count only confirms that entries are listed. It does not confirm that the token can open each space.
4. Check the floor plan in a widget
- Open a dashboard you can edit and add or configure its floor-plan widget.
- In Floor Plan → Smplrspace source, select your Connector.
- Select the intended Space and save the widget configuration.
- Open the widget and confirm that the expected floor plan loads.
- Check any configured data points separately against their actual sources.
Repeat the viewing check for each intended space. A token can be limited to particular spaces, so one successful floor plan does not prove access to the others.
Edit or remove a space later
- Open Settings → Integrations → your Smplrspace connector.
- Under Configured spaces, use Edit space to correct its identifier or display name, then click Save space.
- Use Remove space to remove an entry from the connector's list.
- Click Save settings to keep your changes.
Check any widgets that use the edited or removed entry. Removing an entry from Infodeck does not delete the original Smplrspace floor plan.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Test connection is unavailable or disabled | Fill Connector name, Organization ID and Client token, and confirm update permission. If testing is reported as unsupported, contact Support. |
| Connection test fails | Check the organization and client token together, token validity and network access. Retry after a timeout. |
| Test succeeds but a floor plan fails | Confirm the Space ID and the token's access to that particular space, then check the widget's Connector and Space. |
| A space is already configured | Edit the existing entry instead of adding the same Space ID again. |
| Added spaces disappear after leaving | Click Save settings after Save space to persist the list. |
| Floor plan loads but has no occupancy values | Configure the relevant data sources and widget layers separately; viewer access alone does not supply sensor readings. |
Example: office floor plan
Create Office floor plans, enter its viewer access and add the existing space with the display name Office level 2. Click Save space, then Save settings. Select that connector and space in a floor-plan widget and confirm the expected layout appears before sharing the dashboard.
